Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
On the morning of November 2, Beijing time, it is reported that the latest image of the "cobweb of the universe" is creepy and scientists are very confused about how galaxies come together.
The Abell 611 galaxy cluster, which is about 3.2 billion light-years from Earth, is probably held together by dark matter, and scientists are trying to gain insight into dark matter, which cannot be detected by traditional instruments. On October 27, the European Space Agency released the image on Halloween Ghost season. It was taken by the Hubble Space Telescope and may provide clues to dark matter that astronomers are exploring. Dark matter is a mysterious cosmic matter that accounts for about 85% of the mass of the universe.
Astronomers are baffled by the existence of the Abell cluster, which is about 3.2 billion light-years from Earth, with researchers pointing out that there is not enough visible mass in rotating galaxies to "stop the cluster from breaking up". The galaxy cluster is probably held together by dark matter, and scientists are trying to gain insight into dark matter, which cannot be detected by traditional instruments.
European Space Agency officials say dark matter is theoretically divided into two categories, either a large number of particles in the universe-but for some reason they do not interact with light like other particles, or some type of massive matter. but it is not suitable to use current telescope technology for detection. We have now found evidence of dark matter in the Abell 611 cluster, which is attributed to the gravitational lens phenomenon. The massive gravity of the Abell 611 cluster bends light from more distant objects, allowing astronomers to catch glimpses of distant galaxies.
The gravitational lens phenomenon is most obvious in the center of the image, on the left side of the luminous core of the galaxy cluster, so that the curve of light can be seen. While large clusters such as the Abell 611 cluster allow scientists to see other "invisible galaxies" from a distance, gravitational lenses can even be used to study stars or planets on a smaller scale. For example, an independent study released in May shows that we can use the sun's gravitational field to look for life on distant exoplanets, and the James Webb Space Telescope has used the galactic gravitational lens effect to discover the farthest star to date, named Earendel.
