Beijing, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) Twitter has stopped offering ad-free articles to users of its paid subscription service, Twitter Blue.

It is reported that the feature allows users of the Twitter subscription service to read ad-free articles from participating publishers.

The report also announced more content, the cancellation of ad-free articles will take effect from October 31, and includes the following paragraph, which seems to indicate the reason why Twitter will make this decision. "this difficult decision will enable us to concentrate resources to add more value to our members."

However, apart from emails sent to publishers, Twitter does not seem to have any other announcements about its decision to end its paid subscription program. At the same time, the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, posted different prices for Twitter subscription services, which will be $8 a month.

Musk also posted a subsequent tweet outlining other features to be included in the $8-a-month Twitter Blue package, including "the ability to post long videos and audio" and "half the ads".

Musk's last benefit, "bypassing the paywall for publishers who are willing to work with us", is particularly interesting given the recent elimination of "ad-free articles" and may sound like an alternative.

So far, Musk's tweets do not seem to provide more details about the special benefit, but the "bypass the paywall" tweets suggest that Blue users can one day bypass the paywalls of participating publishers as part of their Blue subscriptions. If this eventually becomes true, this benefit may be better than the ad-free reading experience.
