Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
On November 1, according to foreign media reports, Tata Group plans to recruit a large number of workers at the iPhone factory in southern India to further expand the local iPhone contract manufacturing business, in order to get more orders from Apple.
It is reported that the plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, India, is preparing to recruit as many as 45000 women workers within 18 to 24 months to further meet the demand for new production lines. The factory, which is said to cover more than 500 acres, produces and assembles iPhone phone casings, and currently employs about 10000 workers, most of them women.
India's Tata Group is one of the beneficiaries of Apple's supply chain diversification. Although only a small portion of the iPhone and its parts are made in India, India's contract manufacturing status will gradually increase as Apple's supply chain shifts.
In addition, the increase in local parts manufacturing will also help India further into the technology supply chain. Earlier, it was reported that Tata Group was in talks with Apple contract manufacturer Weitong to set up an electronics manufacturing joint venture in India to assemble the iPhone in India.
