It has been learned from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the three major operators that the target of building 2 million 5G base stations this year has been overfulfilled ahead of schedule.

According to Li Shan, director of the 5G Innovation Center of the China Academy of Information and Communications, the construction of the 5G network has exceeded the task this year, with more than 2.2 million 5G base stations nationwide by the end of September, accounting for more than 60% of the global 5G base stations. The number of 5G users in our country has exceeded 500 million and now accounts for more than 30% of the total user penetration.

Experts pointed out that at present, China's 5G network construction is still in the stage of scale construction, although the world's largest network has been built, but the breadth and depth of coverage still need to be further improved. China will still adhere to the moderately advanced principle of 5G network construction, and realize the combination of construction, promotion and use.

CTOnews.com learned that according to a report issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China's communication capacity is continuing to improve steadily. By the end of September, the total number of mobile communication base stations in China had reached 10.72 million, a net increase of 754000 over the end of last year. Among them, the total number of 5G base stations reached 2.22 million, a net increase of 795000 over the end of last year, accounting for 20.7 percent of the total number of mobile base stations, accounting for 6.4 percentage points higher than at the end of last year.
