CTOnews.com, November 1, according to a report in Taiwan's Economic Daily, when the semiconductor economy was in the doldrums and TSMC was revising capital expenditure for the second time, it was reported that major customers in the 3nm process had temporarily cancelled their orders. as a result, TSMC slashed factory orders, up to 40% to 50%, covering areas such as recycled wafers, key consumables, equipment, and so on, as these suppliers were relatively small.

TSMC's supply chain privately revealed that orders from TSMC did weaken at the end of the third quarter and continued to decline in the fourth quarter and the first quarter of next year. As far as we know, the impact field includes the front stage production process and the back stage advanced packaging process, in which the impact on the latter section is greater than that of the former stage.

CTOnews.com learned that TSMC recently cut capital expenditure for 2022 twice to about $36 billion, reducing the absolute amount by at least $4 billion (about 29.2 billion yuan), meaning that nearly 30 billion yuan of business opportunities originally intended to be released to the supply chain were cut.

According to the industry, TSMC encountered the temporary cancellation of an order from a scheduled major customer of the 3nm process, resulting in a significant reduction in the monthly production capacity of the 3nm process, which is only about 10,000 pieces, compared with the original plan. it will not be until the second half of the N3E process next year that the monthly production capacity of the 3nm process will increase significantly, which also affects the performance momentum of the relevant supply chain, and it is even reported that the order has been cut by 40% to 50% more than that planned at the beginning of the year.
