The rear of the housing can be provided with a logo. Devices in logos or other structures may be equipped with partial mirrors with backlight. Mirrors can provide a shiny appearance for logos or other structures while blocking the view of internal components. At the same time, the partial transparency of the mirror allows backlight from inside the device to pass through the mirror.

The patent also states that one or more thin film layers can be configured to provide partial mirrors with the desired visible light reflection spectrum, the desired visible light transmission spectrum and the desired visible light absorption spectrum. The reflectivity of the mirror can be configured so that the mirror can be used as an one-way mirror of a symbol or other structure. Mirrors can have neutral colors, such as light gray, or non-neutral colors, such as gold.

CTOnews.com learned that foreign media Patently Apple pointed out that the three engineers listed in the patent only joined Apple in 2018, when the luminous Logo of MacBook laptops had been removed for a long time, indicating that the patent is a different way to achieve luminous Logo.
