CTOnews.com, Oct. 31, according to TheElec, Samsung Electronics plans to produce 290.68 million smartphones in 2023. This is 13% of the company's production target of 334.2 million units for 2022 by the end of 2021.

Manufacturers always set production targets about 10% higher than their shipping targets, so that some units are used for marketing and inventory.

Samsung aims to ship 270 million units in 2023, slightly higher than the 260 million it thinks it will eventually ship in 2022.

Of the 290.68 million units Samsung will produce next year, the Galaxy S23 series accounts for 32.63 million. This is similar to Samsung's target of 32.9 million for the Galaxy S22.

CTOnews.com learned that of these 32.63 million units: 14.74 million (45%) will be Galaxy S23 Ultra;1247 10,000 (38%) will be Galaxy S235.42 million (17%) will be Galaxy S23 +.

Samsung also plans to launch 1040 million fifth-generation folding screen phones next year. 6.86 million more Galaxy Z Flip 5s will be produced. 3.54 million will be Galaxy Z Fold 5.

The target of 10.4 million folding screen phones is 6% higher than Samsung's target for Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4, 6.9 million and 2.9 million, respectively, for a total of 9.8 million.

Samsung's current shipments of Galaxy Z Flip 4 are lower than expected, so the goal of Galaxy Z Flip 5 is more conservative, according to sources.

Nevertheless, Samsung's Galaxy S23 and Galaxy Z 5 folding series plus traditional flagship models still have a production target of 60.46 million, accounting for 21% of its total production target of 290.68 million.

Samsung's flagship models also account for 20% of its total production target in 2022. Samsung has said it expects growth in its flagship smartphones in 2023 despite the economic downturn.

At the same time, Samsung will produce a total of 215.65 million units of the Galaxy A series next year; the Galaxy M series is set at 9.77 million. The Galaxy A series accounts for 74 per cent of Samsung's total smartphone production target.
