The Shanghai-Nanjing section of the newly-built Shanghai-Chongqing-Rong high-speed railway is an important part of the "eight vertical and eight horizontal" passage along the river in the national medium-and long-term railway network planning, starting from the new Shanghai Baoshan Station and westward through Suzhou, Nantong, Taizhou and Yangzhou in Jiangsu Province. and finally to the boundary of Jiangsu and Anhui provinces.

CTOnews.com learned that the new Shanghai-Chongqing-Rong high-speed railway along the Yangtze River will have a new line length of 416km and a design speed of 350km per hour, with 12 stations in Shanghai, including Baoshan, Taicang, Chongming, Qidong, Haimen North, Nantong, Rugao West, Huangqiao, Taizhou South, Yangzhou East, Yizheng North, and Nanjing North.

Among them, Shanghai Baoshan, Chongming, Qidong, Haimen North, Rugao West, Huangqiao, Taizhou South, Yizheng North, Nanjing North Station are new stations; Taicang, Nantong and Yangzhou East Station are reconstruction and expansion stations.
