According to the China Railway Construction News, the project has a cooperation period of 36 years, including 6 years of construction and 30 years of operation. Relying on this project, China Railway Construction will create many of the largest cross-sea bridges and tunnels in the world, and complete the last "jigsaw puzzle" of Zhejiang "Shishitong high-speed rail".

CTOnews.com learned that the total length of the new Ningbo-Zhoushan railway line is 76.396 km, of which the new line is 70.137 km long and the existing line is 6.259 km long. The line is located in the eastern coastal area of Zhejiang Province, extending from Ningbo East Railway Station in the west to Jintang Island, Cezi Island and Zhoushan Island in Zhoushan City.

There are 36 large and medium-sized bridges and 17 tunnels, with a bridge-to-tunnel ratio of 90.26%. A total of seven stations are set up along the line, including 4 newly built stations, 3 renovated stations, Qiu Ai Station as a pick-up station, the rest as intermediate stations for passenger transport, and Zhoushan Railway Depot at Zhoushan Station.

China Railway Construction said that the new Jintang subsea tunnel on the Ningbo-Zhoushan railway is the first offshore shield tunnel in China and the longest, most complex and most difficult undersea high-speed rail tunnel in the world. It has a total length of 16.18 km, a shield section of 11.21 km and a sea section of 8.3 km. The tunnel passes through the 100,000-ton Jintang main channel, which has the characteristics of dense above-ground risk sources, complex submarine construction environment, many geological changes, high pressure resistance of equipment and high requirements for structural waterproofing.
