CTOnews.com Microsoft today released an emergency out-of-band (OOB) update KB5020953 for Windows 10 systems to fix the OneDrive crash the company recently reported.

This update applies to Windows 10 versions 20H2, 21H1, 21H2, and 22H2, including Arm and x86/64, with KB5020953 updated to version numbers 19042.2194, 19043.2194, and 19044.2194.

Microsoft did not disclose exactly how the issue was resolved, and the update log only mentions the following:

Fixed an issue that caused Microsoft OneDrive to stop working. This issue occurs when a device is unlinked, synced or logged out of an account.

CTOnews.com understands that since this is an out-of-band update, the update cannot be obtained through Windows Update in Settings and must be downloaded manually from the Microsoft Update Catalog website.
