Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

According to CTOnews.com news on October 28, MediaTek, a major domestic chip maker, today announced its third-quarter results, with consolidated revenue of 142.161 billion New Taiwan dollars (about 32.128 billion yuan) in the current quarter, a decrease of 8.7 percent from a month earlier, an increase of 8.4 percent over the same period last year, and a cumulative performance of 440.601 billion New Taiwan dollars in the first three quarters, an increase of 20.7 percent over the same period last year.

MediaTek's net profit in the third quarter was NT $31.085 billion (about 7.025 billion yuan), down 12.7% from a month earlier and up 9.6% from a year earlier, with net profit per share of NT $19.54.

At today's legal conference, MediaTek CEO Cai Lixing said that it is expected that the greatest impact of customer adjustment on the company's business will be reflected in this quarter. In addition, he also hinted that due to the rising prices of upstream fab foundries, their products will reflect costs.

Cai Lixing mentioned that in the fourth quarter, in the global economic environment and the uncertainty of market demand, even though customer inventory has decreased compared with the previous quarter and is close to the normal level, the future demand outlook is still uncertain, most customer orders are still conservative. However, MediaTek also said that some customers have regained some pulling momentum this quarter, which may mean that there will be an opportunity to see more restocking demand in the first half of next year.

On the other hand, MediaTek's flagship mobile phone chips, which will be available in November, are expected to boost revenue growth from the end of this year, and flagship products will contribute more to next year's 5G business, which will also help raise average unit prices.

CTOnews.com learned that affected by the weak market demand for consumer electronics, smartphones, PC and other factors, MediaTek had previously revised down its performance growth this year from the original estimate of 20% to between 17% and 19%, while the full-year gross profit margin forecast remained between 48% and 50%.
