CTOnews.com, October 28 (Xinhua) Tesla Model Y has become the best-selling car in Europe for the first time, according to data released by JATO Dynamics based on new car registration.

"this is the first time that Tesla's sport utility vehicle ranks first in Europe, with 29367 Model Y vehicles registered last month, an increase of 227 per cent over last year," London-based JATO Dynamics said on Wednesday.

CTOnews.com learned that data show that the second most registered model in Europe is Peugeot 208and the third is Renault's Dacia Sandero, which are also much cheaper than Tesla Model Y.

Tesla confirmed that the Berlin Super Factory had achieved a production rate of 2000 Model Y vehicles a week by the end of September.

In August this year, Tesla launched a cheap rear-wheel drive version of Model Y in Europe, which has a WLTP range of 455km. As a reference, Tesla's long-range version of Model Y in Europe has a range of 533km.

In terms of power, the rear wheel drive version of Model Y has a top speed of 217km / h and an acceleration time of 6.9s from 0km / h to 100km / h. According to the official website, the car is expected to be delivered from December 2022 to February 2023.

In terms of price, the rear-wheel drive version of Model Y starts at 50, 000 euros (about 343000 yuan) in the Netherlands, which is 16000 euros (about 109800 yuan) cheaper than the long-lasting version, and there is a VAT of about 8850 euros (about 60711 yuan) of the 50, 000 euros. The current exchange rate of the euro is similar to that of the dollar, which means that if the car were sold in the United States, it would be about $20, 000 cheaper than the cheapest Model Y in the United States. In some European markets, the rear-wheel drive version of Model Y is even cheaper than the standard Model 3.
