Qiao Beifeng started working at Microsoft in 1990 as a member of the Windows 95 team. According to Qiao Beifeng's LinkedIn profile, he has also held management positions in Internet Explorer, Windows XP, Microsoft Electronics and Home, Entertainment and Devices, Windows Phone and Windows 10 teams over the years. In 2015, he announced a year off to spend more time with his family. CTOnews.com learned that Qiao Beifeng took another vacation in 2020 to travel with his family. After that, he returned to Microsoft to work on cross-platform experience and services at the Office experience Group (OXO). He led the team with Ales Holecek, vice president of enterprise. According to Qiao Beifeng's resume, his team is responsible for applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, as well as new members of the shared components and core Office series, such as Loop (applications and components), Designer, To-Do, Planner, Project, Forms, Stream, Whiteboard, etc.

According to internal emails, Holecek will continue to serve as corporate vice president of the Office product group. Sumit Chauhan, vice president of the company, will work with Holecek to become the new co-leader of the team and will report directly to Rajesh Jha, executive vice president of experience and devices. The current vice president of products, David Geithner (David Gainer), will be promoted to vice president of the company and become the "product director" of Office, reporting to Holecek.
