Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Wu Yanzu in South China for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com, October 27 (Xinhua)-- according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Tesla issued a recall notice on October 27, applying for a recall of 24064 Model 3 vehicles manufactured between 2017 and 2022, which is a true "physical" recall rather than an OTA update.
Tesla said it had decided to actively recall some Model 3 cars produced between 2017 and 2022 to check the assembly of the second row of left seat belt buckles and intermediate seat belt retainers to ensure that the parts were fastened in accordance with the specifications.
The NHTSA file shows that repairing some parts in Tesla's Model 3 vehicle requires the removal of the second row of left seat belt buckle and the middle seat belt retainer, both of which are fastened with the same bolt. After disassembly during the maintenance operation, the two components may have been reassembled incorrectly.
Tesla described the chronology of the events that led to the voluntary recall:
In August 2022, Tesla investigated the incident in which customers or service technicians found that the firmware of the second row of intermediate seat belts was not fixed after service maintenance that required disassembly and reassembly of components.
From August 15 to September 30, 2022, Tesla investigated the correction codes of maintenance orders and service procedures specific to the need to disassemble and reassemble related connectors. According to this review, 105 misassemblies were confirmed in the United States.
From October 3 to October 13, 2022, Tesla Services and engineers jointly analyzed the acquired data sets, affected service centers and related correction codes.
On October 14, 2022, Tesla completed the investigation and identified the suspicious root cause, risk assessment and the number of vehicles affected. The recall decision was made on the same day.
As of October 19, 2022, Tesla had identified 105 service repairs, including warranty claims, and had no on-site reports related to or likely to be related to this situation for U.S. Vehicles.
CTOnews.com learned that Tesla will check the reassembly of the second row left seat belt buckle and middle seat belt retainer of the recalled vehicle free of charge, and fasten the parts to the correct specifications if necessary.
