Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen JINSHU for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com October 27 news, Microsoft officially announced that Microsoft 365 OneNote application has been put on the Windows 11/10 app store, the previous OneNote UWP (OneNote for Windows 10) has been removed.

Microsoft's support for OneNote UWP apps isn't over yet, though. The list of apps still exists and can only be downloaded via direct link (link at end of article). The OneNote UWP app will be supported until October 2025, but won't get any new features.

CTOnews.com has learned that Microsoft announced plans to make a unified OneNote app more than a year ago, saying it would build on the OneNote desktop app that ships with Microsoft 365. This version was actually discontinued as early as 2016, so this is a major strategic shift.

Over the past year, the OneNote desktop app's design has been significantly improved and features have been added to make the experience more and more like a UWP app. With the Windows 11 2022 update, Microsoft is also integrating OneNote more tightly with the active stylus. Users can now press the button at the top of the Surface Pen (and other pens with buttons) to compose quick notes without launching the full OneNote app.
