CTOnews.com, Oct. 27, Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft's gaming business, recently attacked Meta's meta-universe vision in an interview. Asked at the Wall Street Journal's technology live meeting what he thought of meta-universe, Spencer described it as a "shoddy video game".

Meta reshaped the Facebook brand last year and began to forge ahead into meta-universe, which the company believes will become a place to socialize not only with friends but also with colleagues. But Spencer seems to have a different view, saying: "Video game creators have an amazing ability to create the amazing virtual world we want to be in. To me, a meta-universe that looks like a conference room. I don't really want to spend time in a place like this."

However, Spencer also said, "the reason why I joke that meta-universe is a bad video game, but I think it is still in an early stage, and over time, meta-universe will eventually be more like a video game than some of the meta-universe models I see today."

CTOnews.com learned that Spencer was not the only one who criticized metasmology during the meeting. Evan Spiegel, chief executive of Snap, defined meta-universe as "living in a computer" and said: "when I come home from a long day of work, the last thing I want to do is live in a computer." Greg Joswiak, senior vice president of global marketing at Apple, called meta-universe "a word I would never use". Disney CEO Bob Chapek said the company tends not to use the word meta-universe because it is a big and broad term for us. " .
