CTOnews.com, Oct. 27, Canalys released a report today that the Chinese mainland smartphone market improved slightly in the third quarter of 2022 compared with the second quarter, with 70 million units shipped. But the market still hovers at a low level, down 11% from a year earlier.

Vivo and OPPO increased month-on-month after optimizing inventory levels in the first half of the year, the report said. The top five vendors in the Chinese mainland smartphone market in the third quarter of 2022 are as follows:

Vivo shipped 14.1 million units and ranked first in the market.

OPPO (including OnePlus) shipped 12.1 million units, rising to second place.

Affected by the lack of new product release, Glory lost its growth momentum since the first half of the year and fell to the third place in the market, with 12 million units shipped.

Apple ranked fourth with 11.3 million units shipped.

Xiaomi shipped 9 million units and ranked fifth.

CTOnews.com learned that Canalys analysts said Apple achieved significant growth on Chinese mainland in the third quarter, and strong demand for the iPhone 14 Pro series contributed to Apple's shipping performance.

In addition, Canalys expects the Chinese mainland smartphone market to be flat in 2023 or pick up slightly in 2022, but still significantly lower than in 2021 and before the epidemic, and demand is unlikely to improve before late next year. Large shipments of the new iPhone and the advent of the e-commerce festival will drive market performance in the fourth quarter.
