CTOnews.com, Oct. 27, according to financial data disclosed by Samsung Electronics today, Samsung Electronics' operating profit fell 31% in the third quarter compared with the same period last year. Samsung Electronics said geopolitical uncertainty could dampen demand by early 2023 as the global economic downturn slashed demand for electronic devices.

CTOnews.com learned that Samsung's third-quarter operating profit fell to 10.85 trillion won (55.01 billion yuan) from 15.8 trillion won (80.106 billion yuan) in the same period last year, the first year-on-year decline in nearly three years and in line with Samsung's estimate of 10.8 trillion won earlier this month.

In addition, Samsung Electronics made a net profit of 9.14 trillion won (about 46.34 billion yuan) in the third quarter, down 24% from a year earlier, and third-quarter sales of 76.78 trillion won (389.275 billion yuan), up 3.8% from a year earlier.
