Elon Musk, the world's richest man, appeared at Twitter's San Francisco headquarters on Wednesday, posting a video of himself walking into the office with a kitchen sink and changing his public profile to "Chief Twit."

He is due to address employees Friday, the deadline for his plan to take the company private for $44 billion. Twitter is expected to be owned by Musk by 5 p.m. ET on Oct. 28. Lawyers and bankers on both sides are scrambling to finalize the documents. Leslie Berland, Twitter's chief marketing officer, sent a memo to employees on Wednesday saying Musk would visit the company's headquarters this week.

"Elon will be meeting with you this week at the San Francisco office, walking down the hall, where you will continue to engage in the important work that everyone is doing," Berland said in the memo."For others, this is just the beginning of many meetings and conversations with Elon, and you will hear directly from him on Friday. "

These are the latest signs Musk plans to deliver on his promise to buy Twitter for $54.20 a share. Twitter shares rose 1.1 percent to close at $53.35 Wednesday on the news.
