Now that the plant appears to be complete and hiring is underway, Tesla has revealed its location at the Megafactory for the first time. Musk revealed that Tesla Megafactory aims to produce 40 MWh of Megapacks per year.

According to the official video released by Tesla LinkedIn, this Megafactory giant factory has been basically completed in only one year and is already rapidly increasing Megapack battery capacity.

The facility is located in Lathrop, California, just an hour's drive from Fremont, Tesla's main electric vehicle manufacturing facility in the United States.

Electrek learned from people familiar with the matter that Tesla had previously been specializing in Megapacks at its Nevada superplant, but as production at California's Megapack factory increased, the plant's capacity was able to produce 25 Megapacks in a day. However, deployment will not be complete until the fourth quarter or even 2023, when Tesla battery packs and energy storage projects should be ready for use.

CTOnews.com understands that Tesla's current business map is divided into two parts: one is electric vehicles, the other is renewable energy, and the latter can be subdivided into solar energy and energy storage devices, currently mainly Powerwall, Powerpack, Megapack and other products.

According to official data, Megapack can store up to 3MWh of electricity per unit, which takes up 40% less space than similar systems on the market, has only one tenth of the number of components, and is installed 10 times faster than products currently on the market.

At the end of 2019, some media exposed Tesla's officially operated mobile energy storage charging vehicle, which has the ability to provide fast charging for eight Tesla models at the same time. The energy storage device mounted on the charging vehicle is this energy storage battery Megapack.

This also means that Tesla's Megapack may also be applied to the automobile "energy storage" market, which is similar to the current power station and the recent "mobile power station" function of BYD vehicles, which further illustrates that the boundary of the energy storage battery market is unlimited.
