CTOnews.com October 26 news, today the Information and Communication Institute released an analysis report on the operation of the domestic mobile phone market in August 2022, which shows that in August 2022, 18.979 million mobile phones were shipped in the domestic market, down 21.9% from the same period last year, of which 14.268 million were 5G mobile phones, down 19.3% from the same period last year, accounting for 75.2% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

CTOnews.com learned that from January to August 2022, total mobile phone shipments in the domestic market totaled 175 million units, down 22.9% from the same period last year, of which 138m 5G phones were shipped, down 17.9% from the same period last year, accounting for 78.9% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

In August 2022, 48 new models of mobile phones were launched in China, down 15.8% from the same period last year, of which 20 were 5G phones, down 25.9% from the same period last year, accounting for 41.7% of the number of new models on the market in the same period. From January to August 2022, there were a total of 271 new models on the market, down 8.4% from the same period last year, of which 141 5G phones were down 4.7% from the same period last year, accounting for 52.0% of the number of new models on the market in the same period.

Domestic mobile phone market domestic and foreign brand composition in August 2022, shipments of domestic brand mobile phones were 17.871 million, down 21.6% from the same period last year, accounting for 94.2% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. 38 new models were listed, down 20.8% from the same period last year, accounting for 79.2% of the number of new mobile phones on the market in the same period. From January to August 2022, domestic brand mobile phone shipments totaled 151 million units, down 25.8% from the same period last year, accounting for 86.4% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. A total of 248 new models were on the market, down 6.8% from the same period last year, accounting for 91.5% of the number of new models on the market in the same period.

The development of domestic smartphones in August 2022, smartphone shipments were 18.135 million, down 21.4% from the same period last year, accounting for 95.6% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. From January to August of 2022, smartphone shipments were 171 million units, down 22.9% from the same period last year, accounting for 97.7% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

In August 2022, 43 new models of smartphones were launched, down 15.7% from the same period last year, accounting for 89.6% of the number of new models on the market in the same period. From January to August 2022, a total of 229 new models of smartphones were launched, down 7.3% from the same period last year, accounting for 84.5% of the number of new models on the market in the same period.
