CTOnews.com, October 26, when we sent our phones to the repair center for repair, maintenance technicians could easily see the personal data in our phones, such as text messages, contacts, photos and videos. In 2021, an Apple technician secretly downloaded private photos from a user's phone and posted them on Facebook, and the user later sued Apple. In the end, Apple paid millions of dollars.

Samsung is trying to avoid this risk by introducing a "maintenance mode" (Maintenance Mode), which allows users to block access to their personal information when sending their devices for repair.

To enter maintenance mode, turn it on in Settings > Battery and device maintenance, after which the phone will restart. After rebooting, a separate account is created on the phone for technicians to use when repairing the phone, thus preventing them from accessing the user's personal data.

When the maintenance of the phone is completed, the user can exit the maintenance mode through pattern / fingerprint identification. after the user exits the maintenance mode, the data and accounts created in the maintenance mode will be deleted automatically, and the applications downloaded in the maintenance mode will also be deleted.

CTOnews.com learned that the maintenance model was successfully tested on Galaxy S21 phones in South Korea in July and then launched in China in September this year. The feature is launched worldwide today, gradually on specific models running One UI 5 in the coming months, and will continue until 2023, and will be available to more devices later.
