Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, Oct. 26, according to a new Apple support file, starting with macOS 13 Ventura, the built-in preview application on Mac no longer supports PostScript (.ps) and Encapsulated PostScript (.eps) files. On macOS 12 Monterey and earlier, the built-in preview application can still be used to open these files. Apple did not provide a reason for the change.
CTOnews.com has learned that Apple recommends using other third-party Mac applications that can view or convert PostScript files. Apple said that on the macOS 13 Ventura, you can still print by dragging .ps and .eps files into the Mac printer queue through the following steps.
Select Apple menu > system Settings, and then click the printer and scanner in the sidebar.
Click the printer name on the right.
Click the printer queue button to open the printer queue window.
Drag the. ps or. Eps file into the printer queue window
The .ps and .eps file formats developed by Adobe in the 1980s were widely used for desktop publishing / printing purposes. PostScript is the rendering foundation of NeXT operating system, and it is mostly replaced by PDF format in Mac OS X.
