On October 26, Amazon announced that the first two renewable energy projects supported in China, Shandong Solar Power Plant and Qian'an Wind Power Plant, have been officially put into operation. The two projects have a total installed capacity of 200MW (MW) and are expected to generate 496,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean energy per year, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 250000 of the average Chinese household.

According to reports, Amazon Shandong Solar Power Plant covers an area of about 2.6square kilometers and has installed 420000 solar panels. With a total investment of 1 billion yuan, the project has brought remarkable economic benefits to the local area and provided more than 800 construction jobs at the peak of the project. The project also organically integrates photovoltaic power generation with aquaculture. Solar power plants on the surface can convert sunlight into electricity, while underwater can carry out safe aquaculture, thus harvesting solar resources and rich aquatic products at the same time.

In addition, Amazon's first wind farm in Qian'an County, Jilin Province has also officially opened. The 100MW (MW) wind energy project can provide about 340,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of clean energy per year.

Amazon has created 379 renewable energy projects around the world, providing 18.5 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy, which is expected to generate 50,000 gigawatts of clean energy (GWh) a year, enough to power 4.3 million American homes each year, according to public data.

By the end of 2021, the adoption rate of renewable energy in Amazon's enterprise operations has reached 85%, and it is expected that 100% renewable energy will be used to support business operations by 2025, five years earlier than originally planned for 2030.
