CTOnews.com, October 25, a new generation of Microsoft notebook Surface Laptop 5 was released this month. The processor has been upgraded from the previous generation of Intel 11 to 12, with a new "immortal tea green" color and no AMD processor version.

According to the Tom's Guide test of foreign media, Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 seems to have gone backwards in terms of battery life, and has not played the AMD version of Surface Laptop 4.

According to tests, Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 with AMD R7 4980U lasts up to 12 hours and 4 minutes, including web browsing, video playback and OpenGL testing, with a brightness setting of 150 nits and connecting to the Wi-Fi.

Under the same conditions, the Surface Laptop 5 with Intel i7-1255U was tested with a range of only 9 hours and 50 minutes, or 2 hours and 14 minutes less than the previous generation.

Microsoft has previously said that Ruilong 4000 Surface Edition is optimized for Surface Laptop 4, but abandoning AMD in Surface Laptop 5 is tantamount to giving up an advantage.

However, the Cinebench i7-1255U score of 1674 (single core) and 8709 (multi-core), significantly higher than the AMD R7 4980U 1173 (single core) and 6748 (multi-core). It seems that the price of performance improvement may be a retrogression in battery life.
