Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

The original title: "the biggest update of Wechat this year, great changes in operational logic!" "

Hello, friends of CTOnews.com, I'm Yu Tsai.

It has been five weeks since the last update from Wechat Android, which is a bit unusual compared to the frequency of updating a version in the previous 3-4 weeks.

Is it difficult that the National Day holiday of the Wechat team is not over yet?

Watching Wechat not being updated, and recalling my previous complaints about updates, I only feel repentant. I really don't know how good Wechat is when I am young.

Recently, however, Yu Zai discovered that Wechat was secretly engaged in an epic operation-- an interface adaptation for Android large-screen devices and a test version of the installation package. Previously, Wechat was very indifferent to Android large-screen devices, largely relying on the "parallel horizon" function developed by Android manufacturers.

It's just that this method, which relies on manufacturers' optimization and adjustment, is a little stiff in some interfaces, and it's certainly not as smooth as Wechat's active adaptation.

As for the reason why Wechat suddenly adapted to Android large-screen devices, Yu speculated that it was partly due to the increase in the number of users of folding phones, and partly because the Android 12L released this year is itself a system for large-screen devices.

Anyway, whatever the reason, Wechat's willingness to adapt to Android devices with large screens is good for users, so Yu Zai specially got a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 folding screen phone to test.

Today I'd like to share with you what optimizations Wechat has made and what features it offers for Android large-screen devices.

(the following tests are based on the latest system, install a special test package, and turn on the "application split view" function in the settings.) for large-screen devices such as folding screens, the effect and application of split-screen display is the core adaptation focus.

Once the adaptation is poor, the interface will not only look strange, but also waste the advantage of the big screen.

Judging from the current test version, the interface of Wechat is similar to that of Android manufacturers'"parallel horizon".

The whole interface is divided into two, with Wechat main interface on the left and blank interface printed with Wechat icon on the right.

The area on the right can be regarded as an extended page or sub-page.

When chatting with friends, the chat interface will not appear in full screen, but will appear on the right.

When chatting with multiple friends at the same time, you don't have to quit repeatedly like a straight phone, just click on the friend on the left.

After the rain test, in addition to the chat interface, some other commonly used interfaces also support split-screen display.

Such as video calls, viewing contact information, browsing official account articles and so on.

Among them, the video call support split-screen display is quite practical.

When making a video call with a straight phone, there are only two modes: full screen and small floating window, the former can not do anything else, and the latter can not see the picture clearly.

In contrast to the test version of the large screen, the video interface can appear alone in the right area, just the right size; at the same time, you can also do other operations in the left area, successfully achieving dual-purpose.

It is a pity that both moments and LVB are not able to adapt to different screens at present, and they will jump to the full-screen interface when they are opened.

Maybe the Wechat team feels more comfortable with full-screen viewing, but they still hope that subsequent versions can split the screen, or at least provide the option of switching between full-screen and split-screen.

On the basis of simple split-screen display, Wechat also provides richer settings for different usage scenarios.

Referring to the official account interface, when browsing the article, the list of articles is displayed on the left and the content of the article is displayed on the right.

When you want to see other articles, just select on the left. In the process of reading the article, you can also do other operations on the left.

For example, if you happen to have a message from a good friend, you can have the best of both worlds while chatting while reading the article.

Wechat also offers a switching option, taking into account that some users are still used to reading articles on full screen.

This option is located in the upper right corner. " By the way, after clicking, the article will change from split-screen to full-screen.

Of course, there must be someone who is not used to either half-screen or full-screen, and you can also adjust the split-screen ratio manually.

Just press and hold the three vertical dots in the center of the screen, you can drag left and right at will, and then choose the size you are used to.

I have to say that Wechat is very considerate and takes full care of the habits of different users.

Even, by pressing the top horizontal bar for a long time, the interface can be dragged to split the screen up and down, and the ratio of the screen can be adjusted.

But by comparison, this kind of split screen can show limited information and is not practical.

In addition, official account articles can be independent into small windows, and support multiple windows, that is, there can be multiple articles at the same time.

Click the horizontal line at the top of the article content interface and select the second icon, which will turn into a small window; if you do this for other articles, it will also become a small window.

Each small window can be dragged, resized and arranged according to the situation.

For those users who are used to reading more than one article at a time, it is a boon.

Not only the official account can perform these operations, Mini Program and so on can also.

It doesn't matter whether it's split-screen display, split-screen / full-screen switching, small window mode, and page size adjustment.

It's just that Mini Program operates differently from the official account:

The official account full-screen / split-screen switch option is independent on the page, while Mini Program is hidden in the top right "…" Is called "display in split screen".

Of course, in addition to internal operations, Wechat itself is also adapted to large-screen devices.

Similar to the official account article, it also supports split-screen, multi-window and small window mode, and you can use Wechat while using other App.

These are the optimizations that Wechat has done for Android big-screen devices. I don't know how you feel. Anyway, Rain wants to give Wechat team a like.

Although it is only a beta version, it is quite perfect in all aspects, and there is basically no eye-catching Bug.

However, all this is based on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, and it is not clear what the other folding screens are like, and there may be some differences.

There must be folding screen users who think that the adaptation made by Wechat is no different from the "parallel horizon".

Indeed, just from a usage perspective, the difference is not big, but the key point is that Wechat has conducted a special test of the adaptation.

Compared with the parallel vision of the adaptation manufacturer and the manufacturer to adapt to Wechat, Wechat adapts the large-screen equipment directly from its own bottom, which makes it better to experience in theory.

Moreover, although Wechat has adapted to the "parallel horizon" before, it is often not adapted until long after the release of the machine, which affects the experience of early users.

And with Wechat taking the initiative to adapt, it is likely to represent that consumers will be able to use the perfectly adapted Wechat as soon as they buy a new device in the future.

Therefore, no matter for the current folding screen users, or the future folding screen users, there is no harm.

Next, wait for the adaptation test to be launched in the official version, and since the adaptation to the big screen is already very mature, Yu Zai shouldn't be able to see it for long.

However, Yu Zai is more looking forward to the release of the new version of Wechat than when it will be launched. It has been 5 weeks, and he is really waiting for the flowers to die off.

Since you have been waiting for so long, I hope Wechat will bring some unexpected new features at that time.

If only "some known problems have been fixed", don't blame everyone for complaining about doubling their efforts!
