CTOnews.com, October 25, SK announced today that it has recently developed the industry's first DDR5 6400 Mbps speed 32GB UDIMM (unbuffered dual inline memory module) and SODIMM (small dual inline memory module), and provides samples to customers. UDIMM is the general name of the memory module used in PC, and SODIMM is the ultra-small memory module used in PC.

SK Hynix said that the DDR5 6400Mbps module product developed by the company is the fastest DDR5 product for PC and client, and the 6400Mbps can transmit about 10 full HD movies (5GB) in one second.

The product uses a new device called CKD (clock driver) to run more stably during high-speed data processing. SK Hynix is the first in the industry to equip with CKD and take the lead in providing samples to customer PC SoC (system on Chip) for system evaluation.

In August and September this year, SK Hynix also completed customer certification for DDR5 module products using 10nm fourth-generation (1a) microprocessing.

SK Hynix plans to quickly complete large-scale customer certification and start mass production in order to occupy the DDR5 market. DDR5 products replace the existing DRAM products with large capacity and high performance specifications, and are expected to become the main products in the market soon. In the near future, it will be compatible with chipsets such as the new CPU and support the latest computing systems.

A person related to SK Hynix said, "according to a number of market research institutions, DDR5's share of the entire DRAM market is expected to grow significantly to about 20 per cent next year and about 40 per cent in 2025. Through close cooperation with global customers, based on DDR5, we plan to target the PC market and the high-end server market."

CTOnews.com learned that in the first half of next year, SK Hynix also plans to launch a number of DDR5 products based on 10nm fifth-generation (1b) microprocessing, and DRAM, which uses 1b technology, plans to actively make use of the extreme ultraviolet (EUV) process.
