01. Copying design I think you often hear the great god say: if you want to improve the level of PPT design, you should look at more excellent design works, and then try to use PPT to copy these works with high quality.

So you also open PPT with confidence and copy an excellent work every day. However, after a period of time, you find that your design level has not improved. Is there something wrong with the methodology?

In fact, it is not that there is something wrong with the method, but because your imitation is not detailed enough to meet the requirement of "high quality".

Instead of scratching the surface to copy 10 works, it is better to reproduce one work with high quality. Because the gap between the rookie and the god is often hidden in the details.

The original design does not come out of thin air, but is extended by drawing lessons from a large number of excellent works.

How to extend the design more systematically? The following is to share with you my ideas, that is, the three steps of original design:

1. Replace the element; 2. Change typesetting; 3. Change the color matching

Replacement element replaces the existing design element in the screen with a new design element

Replacing elements is the most basic form of extension. Let's take a look at the process of replacement:

Change the character diagram to the product diagram, and the application scenario on this page changes from a team introduction to a product introduction. This is similar to the primary process of setting a template.

Change the rectangle on the outside of the product drawing to a circle, and the text alignment below is also changed to center alignment. At this time, the page has the most basic change, but it is still a little monotonous.

In addition to the circle, it can also be changed into any other figure (here take parallelogram as an example). At the same time, part of the product drawing is exposed, breaking the original rigidity and adding a little more change to the page.

The above substitution is only reflected in the body element, and we can further replace the modifier elements (such as color blocks and dots).

For example, if the semicircle in the lower left corner is replaced by a quadrilateral (the inclined color block matches the elements of the main body), the dotted particles are also changed to a new presentation form to be placed below, and the tone of the material is the same as before.

At the end of the replacement, let's review the whole process:

Replace the existing elements with new elements, expand the application scene, although the change is small, but also integrated into their own thinking, it is a small step towards the original design.

But there are still obvious copying marks in the design at this time:

The most basic way to change is to strengthen the contrast, such as highlighting one of them and weakening the others. Although this change is small, the value of practical application is very high.

You can also change the arrangement of elements from quad to 2X2 arrangement. This is a rudimentary way of typesetting, as long as you maintain a sense of balance (you can also think about how to arrange if there are 3, 5 or other elements).

Of course, you can choose a more creative way of typesetting. If one of them is highlighted while changing the arrangement, this typesetting form is more flexible and requires a certain degree of design skills.

Change typesetting: get rid of the shackles of the original layout and optimize according to the actual situation. If you want to be more flexible in typesetting, you need a certain amount of layout accumulation.

At the mention of color matching, many friends are very troubled, because the previous habit is to absorb the color of excellent works, this color is not allowed to be absorbed but also have to change, what should be done?

In fact, we only need to know a little bit about the theoretical basis of color matching at the moment. Let's first analyze the color matching scheme of the reference object:

This set of colors is matched with colors within the range of 120 degrees of the color ring. What is the color ring? With regard to the theoretical part, you can have a look at Baidu. I won't say much about it on the Internet. I will mainly talk about how to use it here.

How to use the color ring to update color matching? We do not need to memorize the theoretical knowledge, just follow the color matching concept of the reference object (that is, select colors in any range of 120 degrees on the color ring to match):
