CTOnews.com October 25, Apple today released the official version of tvOS 16.1, the specific version number (20K71), which is the first major update to the tvOS 16 operating system, which was originally launched in September. TvOS 16.1 is available for Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD.

The update of tvOS 16.1 can be downloaded by OTA through the settings application on Apple TV, go to system-> software update. Apple TV users who turn on automatic software updates will automatically upgrade to tvOS 16.1.

Although updates to tvOS tend to be small compared to updates from other operating systems, there are some new features in tvOS 16.1. Apple Fitness + can be used with iPhone, does not require Apple Watch, and supports iCloud sharing of photo libraries.

The update adds a more compact Siri interface that allows users to see the results of their requests in the lower-right corner of the TV screen, rather than in the middle of the bottom of the screen. The new appearance takes up less space. There is also a new option to enable the "Hey Siri" command when using pairing to connect to AirPods's Apple TV. This option can be found under Settings-General.

CTOnews.com learned that, like updates to iOS 16.1, iPadOS 16.1, macOS 13 Ventura and watchOS 9.1, tvOS 16.1 introduced support for the Matter smart home standard, which will enable smart home products from different companies to interoperate with each other.
