CTOnews.com, October 24, according to CAICT, China Academy of Information and Communications (hereinafter referred to as "China Academy of Information and Communications") and Galaxy Aerospace (Beijing) Science and Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Galaxy Aerospace") jointly carried out satellite Internet of things system on-orbit technology test, for the first time verified the applicability of narrowband Internet of things system signal based on 3GPP IoT NTN protocol in low-orbit satellite communication system. This experiment adopts the IoT NTN test and verification platform developed by China Institute of Information and Communication (hereinafter referred to as "the test platform"), and relies on Galaxy Aerospace's low-orbit test satellite and ground gateway station to carry out satellite in-orbit test of 3GPP IoT NTN signal.

CTOnews.com learned that on March 5, 2022, Galaxy Aerospace 02, China's first mass-developed low-orbit broadband communication satellite, was successfully launched, and formed China's first low-orbit broadband communication test constellation with the first Galaxy space star in orbit, and built a satellite-to-ground fusion 5G test network "Little Spider Web", which has the ability of uninterrupted and low-delay broadband communication service for about 30 minutes at a time. It provides a strong support for the verification of 3GPP NTN-related on-orbit testing.

According to the characteristics of large path loss and rapid change of channel environment of low-orbit satellites in Ka band, China Institute of Information and Communication has optimized IoT NTN signal synchronization and frequency offset compensation, and verified the ability of narrowband Internet of things signals to overcome large time delay and dynamic frequency offset.

This experiment introduces NB-IoT technology into the field of satellite communication, gives full play to the characteristics of high sensitivity and wide coverage of NB-IoT technology, and uses a small aperture terminal antenna with aperture 5.8cm and gain 7dB to realize the correct demodulation of upstream and downlink signals. This experiment greatly reduces the size of the terminal antenna, points out the breakthrough direction for the miniaturization of the satellite Internet of things terminal, and provides a strong support for the development of commercial use. This experiment uses the Ka band to carry out the test, combined with the test results of China Academy of Communications and Communication in 2021 and 2022, to explore the technical feasibility of building a wide and narrow band integrated satellite communication system, which has important reference significance for the development of wide and narrow band integrated satellite communication.
