Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com October 24 news, today, TrendForce Jibang Consulting released a report saying that in the future, with the large-scale retirement of power and energy storage batteries, it is expected that by 2030, the global power and energy storage battery recycling scale will exceed 1TWh, of which lithium iron phosphate battery recycling scale will account for more than 58%.

▲ Source: TrendForce Jibang Consulting TrendForce Jibang Consulting said that the rapid increase in the penetration rate of the global new energy vehicle market has stimulated the installed capacity of power batteries to increase year by year. Meanwhile, the technical route of lithium iron phosphate batteries in the field of electrochemical energy storage is becoming the mainstream scheme for new installed capacity in recent years, and the proportion is rapidly increasing.

According to reports, in view of China, one of the world's largest new energy vehicle markets, the installed capacity of the global power battery market will exceed 3TWh by 2030, while the installed capacity of China's power battery is expected to account for about 45% of the world.

CTOnews.com learned that the GGII report shows that it is estimated that China's retired power batteries will accumulate 137.4GWh in 2025, and the output value of graded utilization and recycling is expected to exceed 100 billion yuan. The report predicts that by 2025, the capacity of waste batteries to be recycled in China will reach 960,000 tons, and the renewable lithium, cobalt, nickel and manganese resources through recycling power batteries in 2025 will account for 27.7%, 55.5%, 28.7% and 47.9% of the corresponding demand respectively.

According to CCTV Finance and Economics reported in August, data show that by the end of June 2022, the number of new energy vehicles nationwide reached 10.01 million. At present, the power batteries on the first batch of new energy vehicles in China have ushered in the retirement tide. At present, there are two ways to recycle retired power batteries: cascade utilization and recycling and extracting raw materials. The former is to disassemble and reorganize the retired power battery and apply it to areas such as energy storage that do not require high battery energy density; the latter is to extract expensive metal materials such as cobalt, nickel and lithium from the scrap battery.

In terms of hierarchical utilization, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other departments jointly issued the management measures for hierarchical utilization of power storage batteries of new energy vehicles in August last year, proposing that there is generally 70% to 80% residual capacity after the power batteries of new energy vehicles are decommissioned, and this part of capacity can be degraded for scenarios such as energy storage and standby to maximize the utilization of residual energy.

Earlier, Huang Libin, director of the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, revealed that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is exploring the formation of a batch of new business models such as "echelon batteries for rent and sale" and "waste for raw materials." The next step will speed up the introduction of national standards and industry standards for power battery recycling. In terms of data, more than 10,000 new energy vehicle power battery recycling service outlets covering the whole country have been built in China. The owners of new energy vehicles can inquire the information of the recycling outlets nearest to themselves and standardize the handover of retired batteries.
