The new report says Apple has considered using plastic to build an iPad as a way to further lower prices and compete with other products. But it looks like Apple didn't go that way in the end.

According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, the Apple team apparently discussed bundling plastic iPad with low-cost plastic keyboard accessories and selling them separately for less than $500 (about 3635 yuan). In its Power On newsletter, Gurman said Apple's idea was to challenge Chromebook, take market share away from these devices and possibly make iPad the new standard in the classroom. But the plastic iPad product was not released.

Apple's current strategy may revolve around creating demand for customers, the product itself will ensure quality, and users will get the best experience by buying different and expensive accessories, analysts said.

Suppose Apple starts offering cheaper iPad, made of plastic. In this case, this cheap material may slowly erode other products, trying to target more customers, but at the expense of high-quality hardware.

CTOnews.com learned that Apple recently released its latest iPad 10 tablet-- positioned as the "affordable" successor to the iPad 9-- starting at $449 (3599 yuan at the Bank of China). In order to complete the experience of "replacing" laptops, customers need to buy a Miao control keyboard double-sided clip ($249, Bank of China 1999 yuan) and the Apple Pencil (first generation) ($99, Bank of China 799 yuan).
