Oct. 24 (Xinhua) billionaire Elon Musk confirmed on Twitter on Sunday that the technical demonstration of his brain-computer interface company Neuralink will be postponed until November 30, but he did not provide more information.

Musk had previously said in August that a demonstration called "show & tell" would be held on October 31.

Neuralink, based in San Francisco and co-founded by Musk in 2016, aims to implant computer chips into the brain to help treat neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's, dementia and spinal cord injury, and to integrate humans with artificial intelligence (AI).

Musk said in a 2019 demonstration that Neuralink's goal is to obtain regulatory approval to conduct chip implantation experiments in the human brain by the end of 2020. So far, however, the company has not received such approval, nor has it brought its products to market.

Neuralink also demonstrated the application of the technology to pigs and monkeys in demonstrations in 2020 and 2021. Musk says the technique works well in monkeys and he hopes to apply it to the first humans, such as tetraplegic people, this year.

Musk has approached Synchron, the developer of brain chips, about a potential investment. He had previously expressed his disappointment to Neuralink employees, citing the company's slow progress in obtaining regulatory approval.
