CTOnews.com, October 23 (Xinhua)-- Indian telecom giant Jio has launched its first notebook computer product, the JioBook, in India, which is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor, 2GB RAM and 32GB eMMC storage, and can be extended to 128GB through microSD cards.

The machine currently sells for only 15799 rupees (about 1384 yuan) on Reliance Digital. This is the second low-cost device launched by Reliance Jio after the JioPhone, and they plan to use the laptop as a replacement for tablets for employees who are not in the office.

CTOnews.com learned that the laptop runs on a system that is not the usual Windows or ChromeOS, but an Android-based JioOS system that has been "optimized for superior performance" and native language support.

In other areas, the laptop features an 11.6mm 1366 x 768 TN screen, built-in Jio SIM card, support for 4G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0, a 5000mAh battery, a battery life of approximately 8 hours, a 3.5mm headphone hole, HDMI and USB-A 2.0 ports, a 2MP camera and stereo speakers.

In addition, JioBook bundles several Jio applications and Microsoft 365 services, and the laptop has been developed for at least 2 years. The company quietly showed it at the Mobile India Trade Show last month.

It was also reported earlier this month that Reliance Jio plans to launch a 5G version of its popular phone JioPhone, codenamed "Ganga" (Ganges).

According to several reports, the JioPhone 5G will have a 6.5inch HD + LCD screen with a refresh rate of 90Hz. It is likely to carry Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 chips and provide storage space up to 38GB.
