CTOnews.com October 22, Microsoft reconfirms a Bug that may cause users to fail when trying to configure an Exchange Online mailbox with error code 603 "unable to configure an Exchange Online mailbox."

Microsoft has released a new supporting document on this. "Get-Mailbox points SharingPolicy to deleted objects (for example, the default sharing policy DEL:12345b67-1ab0-1234-abc1-ab1c23456789)," Microsoft explained. Known issues affect Outlook desktop clients (Outlook for Microsoft 2021, Outlook 2021, Outlook 2019, and Outlook 2016).

Microsoft added that the cause of these configuration problems had been identified as a service problem and that they would soon provide fixes to address the problem.

Problem users may not be able to configure mailboxes in Outlook for Windows. Errors during auto-discovery streams prevent the process from completing.

Through the Outlook connection test, the affected users will receive error 603:

Deleted objects will not find sessions with a scope of TenantLocal or AllTenants unless the search is limited to the deleted objects container.

Get-Mailbox points the SharingPolicy to the deleted object (for example. The default sharing policy DEL:12345b67-1ab0-1234-abc1-ab1c23456789).

The root cause has been identified as a service problem, and code fixes that will be deployed to resolve the problem will be deployed. At the same time, if the organization is affected, the administrator can fix it manually using the following steps:

Connect to Exchange Online PowerShell: connect to Exchange Online PowerShell

By running:

Get-Mailbox-ResultSize 10 | fl * sharingpol* confirms that Get-Mailbox points the SharingPolicy to the deleted object

By running:

New-SharingPolicy-Name "Default SharingPolicy"-Domains'*: CalendarSharingFreeBusySimple','Anonymous:CalendarSharingFreeBusyReviewer'-Enabled:$true-Default:$true restore default SharingPolicy

Verify that Get-Mailbox no longer points the SharingPolicy to the deleted object:

Get-Mailbox-ResultSize 10 | fl * sharingpol*

Configuring mailboxes in Outlook should work again.
