CTOnews.com, October 22 (Xinhua)-- the second experimental module of the Chinese space station, Mengtian Experimental Module, will be launched in October. After launch, the Mengtian experimental module will eventually form a T configuration with the sky and core module and the third module of the experimental module, which also marks the completion of the National Space Laboratory.

At present, various systems of the project are carrying out various test preparations to ensure that the construction of China's space station is completed on schedule. The Jiuquan Satellite launch Center is simultaneously preparing for the launch and recovery of manned spacecraft, and the Shenzhou 15 manned mission has entered the preparatory stage in an all-round way.

CTOnews.com previously reported that the Mengtian experimental module has completed all the development work before leaving the factory and arrived at the Wenchang space launch site recently. In the follow-up, the Mengtian experimental module will carry out the final assembly and testing of the launch site as planned. At present, the facilities and equipment of the launch site are in good condition, and the participating systems are preparing for various tasks in an orderly manner.

After that, China will also carry out the launch missions of Tianzhou V cargo spacecraft and Shenzhou 15 manned spacecraft. Among them, the flight crew of the Shenzhou 15 manned spacecraft is composed of three astronauts, who will work and live in orbit for six months after completing the on-orbit rotation with the Shenzhou 14 astronauts.

According to reports, the Mengtian experimental module is mainly oriented to microgravity scientific research, and is equipped with experimental cabinets with multi-disciplinary directions such as fluid physics and material science, supporting the study of the essential laws of materials such as the solidification mechanism of materials under the cover of gravity, as well as cutting-edge experimental research such as ultra-cold atomic physics.

According to Gu Yidong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, "on the space station, we can study what happens when materials have no gravity, which in turn promotes the research of material science on the ground, the processing of materials, and improves efficiency and quality."
