In short, Kim Seung-gyu says the name of RTX 4080 16GB is "confusing" compared to RTX 4080 12GB because the latter is significantly higher in performance. Seung-gyu explained that Nvidia's graphics cards can usually predict their performance by name, but the performance differences between the two 4080 graphics cards can confuse customers.

Nvidia did not give a detailed reason for the cancellation of the RTX 4080 12GB card in its previous announcement, saying only that the naming was confusing.

CTOnews.com learned that Nvidia canceled RTX 4080 12GB SKU seven days ago, admitting that the name of the graphics card was confusing. There are also significant differences in specification and performance between 12GB and 16GB models, as confirmed by Nvidia's own tests, with up to 30 per cent performance differences between the 4080 12GB and 16GB SKU.

According to previous reports, Nvidia will negotiate with partners who have already made boxes for RTX 4080 12GB graphics cards to reimburse them for their packaging costs.

Nvidia has not announced a follow-up plan for RTX 4080 12GB and is expected to go public under a new name.
