Every time Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and other countries are mentioned, everyone will think of the word "local tyrants" because they are really too rich, but how do people get their money? Are we all equally intelligent and industrious? Oh, it turns out they have a lot of oil!

Today we will talk about why there is so much oil in the Middle East!

Let's first look at the distribution of global oil. The Middle East accounts for 66% of the world's oil reserves, while China and East Asian waters account for only 4%, which is 1/16 of that of the Middle East. Based on this ratio, we also put in the parameters of land area and population ratio. Take the United Arab Emirates for example, with a total population of 9.5 million and a land area of 83600 square kilometers; on the other hand, China has a total population of 1.41 billion and 9.6 million square kilometers. Putting aside the problem of oil distribution for the time being, if you count the oil that can be distributed to everyone, United Arab Emirates is 2700000/1 compared with China. Assuming that the government gives welfare to everyone, China has one per person, and United Arab Emirates has 2.7 million per person. There is no comparison! As far as this ratio is concerned, no matter what else, can you understand why the Middle East is a local tyrant?

Why is it so unfair that most of the oil discovered is in the Middle East? This matter had to start from ancient times!

During the Mesozoic era, hundreds of millions of years ago, the Persian Gulf was an ocean, rich in biological diversity and suitable in climate. I tweeted about oil (what is "black gold"?) It has also been said that the formation of oil mainly depends on microorganisms, and marine oil generation depends more on microorganisms in the ocean (plankton, etc.), and the amount is large! This is the source of oil, and the quality of oil is directly related to its source rock, that is,"source rock." Good biomass sources can create good source rocks, which are all linked one by one.

With a good source, it must be circulated and stored well afterwards, otherwise it will be useless. The phrase "production, storage, cover, transportation and protection" in the oil circle can describe what conditions are needed for good oil. I will not explain the meaning of this sentence in detail here. You can read the author's previous tweets! (What is "black gold"?)

In the Middle East, most of the strata are marine strata, and their carbonate rocks are rich in pores, good in circulation and high in porosity, which provides a very good place for oil migration and storage! Of course, the most important thing was, how could it be preserved forever without being destroyed? Let's go back to the structure. The Middle East belongs to the Tethys structural belt. When it comes to Tethys, we may be unfamiliar with it, but when it comes to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, we may understand it.

The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau also belongs to the Tethys structural belt. From the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, along the suture belt all the way to Europe, this piece belongs to the Tethys structural belt and is the heritage of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean! The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau was the first to close, while the Mediterranean Sea is closing, that is to say, the structure in the Middle East is not as complex as the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, because it has not yet closed. This is a key point. If the structural requirements are met, then the trap will be perfect and the oil quality will be good! Its caprock is mudstone with large thickness, so an excellent "source-reservoir-caprock" combination is formed, which gives birth to reservoirs with large thickness, shallow burial, few impurities, large reserves and easy development. Think about it, any hill, a dig, an oil well, a hit, this is simply an oil paradise.

Of course, you may also wonder why there is no oil on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. In fact, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau should have been rich in oil in the early ancient times, but after the land-to-land collision, it caused structural subversive changes and the oil reservoirs were destroyed. Therefore, in essence, the Middle East is eating the dividends of time!
