CTOnews.com October 21 news, Bloomberg quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that Apple hardware chief designer Evans Hankey (Evans Hankey) will leave the company. Following Ive's departure in 2019, the former vice president of industrial design led Apple's design team alongside software design chief Alan Day.

For now, though, Apple products don't seem to need much design change.

According to reports, Evans Hankey has been in office for three years, and there will be no one to take over after he leaves, so Apple seems to have an empty window.

Hankey took over the position in 2019 from renowned designer Jony Ive, the company's most iconic design director in 20 years. Before taking on his current role as vice president of industrial design, Hankey worked at Apple for several years, reporting to Ive but has since reported to Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams.

Evans Hankey's departure was announced internally this week, and Hankey told colleagues he would stay at Apple for the next six months. The company has yet to name a replacement. Hankey currently oversees dozens of industrial designers.

Apple co-founder Steve Jobs hired Jony Ive as design director when he took over the company in the late 1990s, but his announcement in 2019 and Hankey's departure are the first vacancies in the position since Jobs.

There's also one person, Richard Howarth, who was a key designer on Ive and Hankey's team and briefly served as head of industrial design between 2015 and 2017, reporting to Ive.

An Apple spokesperson said: "The senior design team has strong leaders with decades of experience. Evans plans to remain in office during our transition, and we want to thank him for his leadership and contributions. "

Bloomberg believes that with its thin aluminum iPad, boxy MacBook Pro and iPhone, which ushered in the era of "bangs" full-screen,"design" has been one of Apple's proud selling points for decades and a key factor distinguishing it from Samsung Electronics, Amazon and other major competitors.

They argue that the gaps left by Hankey could affect Apple's future plans and could create cosmetic problems for the company's future products.
