Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Hello, everyone. Welcome to Slidecent.

Meet the words like face to face, I am Lin Limeng.

Do you often hear feedback like this:

Your PPT page looks so messy.

Is there any way to make it a little clearer?

It's really messy, but how can it be more clear?

So you don't seem to understand it.

Add a picture? Icon? Or embellishment?

However, the final results are often not ideal.

If you have the same confusion,

I believe this article will enlighten you.

Cluttered pages are a common problem for many beginners.

They tend to blame the clutter on the lack of beauty on the page.

But is this really the case?

On the face of it, most of the messy pages are not beautiful enough (too much content, colorful colors, messy typesetting, etc.). However, there is only one essential factor: your design does not guide the correct reading order.

Share a reading logic and visual guide article today to teach you how to make a clean and clear PPT (suggestion collection).

First of all, what is visual guidance? To put it simply, it is the use of design to guide the reader's reading order.

For example: most people's normal reading order is from left to right and from top to bottom:

For example, you see the following four paragraphs:

The normal reading habits are as follows:

First read the above two paragraphs from left to right, and then read the following part (that is, the normal reading order)

However, when the types of elements are the same, if other kinds of elements are added to the text, the conventional reading order will be broken.

As shown in the picture, pictures and color blocks are added to the plain text page.

At this point, the reading order becomes like this:

At first glance, we are attracted by the picture, then the color block, then the larger text on the lower left, and finally the text at the top (that is, the conventional reading order is broken).

This is the function of visual guidance, through design (such as changing element size, color matching, word weight, etc.) to guide the reader's reading order.

However, not all guidance is reasonable, and improper visual guidance often leads to feelings of discomfort and confusion:

This is the unreasonable situation of guidance, and it is also a problem often made by many beginners. Every element in the page wants to emphasize. As a result, the page is cluttered and unfocused.

So what kind of guidance sequence is reasonable? The answer is to conform to the reader's reading habits and the inherent logic of the page as much as possible.

Here I summarize three steps to teach you to design a reasonable reading order and make a clean and clear PPT page.

Clear page logic, design visual guidance, overall beautification design

Here I demonstrate this method through two pages of PPT beautification:

Page one

This is the problem description page, which is small but still messy.

01. Clear page logic

Read the copy carefully, it mainly contains three parts:

Left: specific questions (WHAT)

Top right: cause of problem (WHY)

Bottom right: solution (HOW)

So the logic of the page is very simple, which is a sequential structure: what-- why-- what to do?

02. Design a visual guide to understand the logic of the inner page, and then analyze the visual guidance sequence:

The current boot sequence: the middle illustration-- the color block content on the top right-- the color block content on the lower right-- the text on the left

The corresponding page logic: why (WHY)-what to do (HOW)-what is it (WHAT)

Obviously, the reading order of this guide is unreasonable, and the correct reading order should be: what (WHAT)-why (WHY)-what to do (HOW)

So we redesigned the visual guide (you can remove the modifier elements, just draw the logical relationship between the copywriting):

At this point, the visual guide becomes concise and logical:

That is, from left to right, does it read more smoothly?

This is the meaning of visual guidance, which gives readers a comfortable reading experience and reduces the reading burden. This step is also a priority step that we need to consider before beautifying.

03. Overall beautification design

Finally, beautify the design, because it is not the focus of our explanation, so we will simply mention it. The following picture is the finished product:

There can be thousands of forms of beautification, but the core is only one thing, that is, to add some design elements to enrich the picture under the premise of reasonable visual guidance.

Let's take a look at the changes before and after the revision:

Before beautification: the visual guidance order is unreasonable, the page is cluttered, and the reading cost is high.

After beautification: the visual guidance sequence is consistent with the page logic and reading habits, and the page is clearer.

Of course, some friends will think this case is too simple, so let's take a look at a slightly more complicated page:

Page two

This is the case of the second phase of logical thinking before, because it is more typical, let's use today's method to analyze it again.

01. Clear page logic: this page looks complex, but if you look at it carefully, you will find that it is divided into three parts: construction significance, construction goal and scheme description.

The relationship between the three can be simply understood as a juxtaposition.

02. Design visual guidance. Next, we analyze the manuscript. It is found that it does not have a clear visual guide, so the page is very cluttered:

After seeing the middle wisdom park at first glance, I didn't know what to look at next, which caused a heavy burden of reading.

So, according to the logic of the page, we divided the content into three parts and retypeset it:

At this point, the reading order is much clearer:

03. The overall beautification design finally carries on the beautification design, may carry on the decoration to the frame:

Or add pictures to beautify:

Although the layout of this page has changed, the visual guide is still clear.

Before and after comparison to see the effect:

After re-combing the visual guide sequence, the originally cluttered pages become clean and clear, isn't it not bad?

This can be regarded as an 80-point design work, and if you can do this, it will be enough to deal with most of the PPT designs in work and study.

Of course, friends who are familiar with me may be impressed that I have done a deeper iteration based on the above version, that is, structured design:

In fact, it can also be realized through the three steps described in this article: clear logical structure, design visual guidance, and overall beautification design. It's just that it divides the logical structure more deeply.

If you read the copy carefully, you will find that the above draft is a deeper logical carding of the three parts that were originally juxtaposed.

When you communicate with people and express ideas, structured design is often easier to understand and more in line with your expression habits. Of course, it takes a lot of practice before you gradually realize it, and that's it.

Let's review today's content again and remember the three-step method:

I hope you will ask yourself one more question in your work and study in the future. Is the visual guide of my PPT page really reasonable (whether it conforms to the logic of the page and whether it accords with the reading habit).
