Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com October 21 news, at the 2022 OCP Global Summit, Armour demonstrated the next generation of SSD storage solutions for data centers. These new products are based on the latest Huirong PCIe Gen5 SM8366 master, which can achieve 13.6 GB / s sequential read and 3.4 million IOPS random speed through demonstration.

Huirong SM8366 is the successor to the SM8266 launched in November 2020, which is based on PCIe Gen5 × 4 interface and supports U2, E1.S and E3.s form factors. Meguiar and Knight-errant products with this main control have appeared in OCP activities, but none of them are consumer products.

Judging from the photos given by TweakTown, SM8366 has a 16-channel NAND interface with a bandwidth of 2400 MT / s. It is said that the third generation of enterprise master can achieve 14 GB / s sequential read and write speed, which also means that there will be 3m read IOPS and 2.8m write IOPS products.

CTOnews.com learned that Intel and AMD have supported or are about to support the PCIe 5 protocol, but there seems to be no available consumer SSDs on the market, while the mainstream PCIe 4 SSDs can generally reach 7GB / s. The Samsung 990 Pro series has sequential read and write speeds of 7450 MB/s and 6900MB/s, and random read and write speeds of 1400K and 1550K IOPS, respectively.

Huirong SM8366 specification: PCIe Gen 5.0API (up to x4)

16-or 8-channel (2400 MT / s) NAND

OCP data Center NVMe / NVMe 2.0 Specification

Transmission speed above 14 GB / s (4K sequential read / write)

More than 3 million IOPS (random 4K)

Single and dual channel 40bit DRAM

DDR4-3200 or DDR5-4800 DRAM

128 TB / s maximum capacity
