CTOnews.com, October 21 (Xinhua)-- Samsung display (Samsung Display) expects to increase production of quantum dot (QD)-organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays next year.

Samsung says it expects to increase its production of QD-OLED display panels from 30,000 a month now to 40,000 next year.

"the company's production yield of QD-OLED display panels increased to 85% in the first half of this year, demonstrating its strong technical capability," Jung Yun-Seong, general manager of Omdia, said at a research company meeting.

Due to the increase in production, Samsung will be able to add 49-inch and 77-inch QD-OLED displays to its product portfolio, Jung Analytics said. He estimates that Samsung will produce 600000 to 800000 QD-OLED panels and 1.4 million to 1.6 million televisions in 2023. He thinks the total annual production next year will be 2 million to 2.4 million panels.

In terms of profitability, Samsung is considered to be the most stable player in the global display company. CTOnews.com learned that its average profit margin between 2017 and the first quarter of 2022 was about 10 per cent, higher than the 7-8 per cent range for China's BOE and Huaxing Optoelectronics.

Profit margins such as BOE and Huaxing Optoelectronics fell in the second quarter of 2022, but Samsung showed a profit margin of 14 per cent.
