CTOnews.com, October 21, according to the official account of "China Institute of Information and Communications", the "NR user equipment multiple input multiple output (MIMO) empty Port (OTA) performance requirements" (hereinafter referred to as "NR MIMO OTA") international standard project led by China Institute of Information and Communications (CICT) was approved at the 3GPP RAN#97 Plenary meeting in September 2022.

China Institute of Information and Communication said that on this basis, the international standard TS38.151 was officially released, which marked the official landing of the standard for air port performance requirements of 5G terminals, and the industry has made a breakthrough in the field of standardization of 5G terminal testing.

According to reports, the air port performance test of 5G terminal is the mainstream test project to evaluate the transmitting and receiving performance of terminal through the whole machine in the current mobile communication performance testing. its indicators directly affect the stable connection of the network, terminal product design, network data capacity and user experience. Therefore, the MIMO standard of 5G terminal based on empty port is of great significance.

CTOnews.com learned that the release of the standard will fill the gap in the field of 5G terminal testing and guide the industry to accurately and efficiently verify the multi-antenna reception performance of 5G user equipment in a standardized test environment. The introduction of the air port performance index will guide the terminal antenna design and machine optimization, effectively enhance the real experience of users, and support the high-quality development of the mobile communication industry. In addition, at the same period meeting, CICT took the lead in setting up a Release 18 project to enhance NR MIMO OTA standards, which will further optimize 5G MIMO test methods and index requirements.
