Bankers and lawyers hired by both sides are trying to prepare documents for the acquisition to complete the deal by the court's October 28 deadline, according to people familiar with the matter.

Although Twitter and Musk have gone through months of recrimination, they are now back together and the focus has shifted from litigation to closing the deal as soon as possible, according to people familiar with the matter.

Wall Street banks, led by Morgan Stanley, are also stepping up progress to help the deal raise about $13 billion in debt. One of the investment banks told employees that Mr Musk was expected to issue a loan notice next Tuesday, according to people familiar with the matter.

Representatives of Twitter and Morgan Stanley declined to comment. A spokesman for Mr Musk has yet to respond.

It is not clear why there was a breakthrough in the relationship between Twitter and Musk. In early October, negotiations between the two sides were deadlocked by a statement from Mr Musk, who said at the time that the acquisition was conditional on $13 billion in debt financing, even though the bank had provided debt financing through a commitment in April.
