Zou Lan, director of the Monetary Policy Department of the People's Bank of China, said at the press conference on financial statistics in the first half of July this year that in the first half of this year, the People's Bank of China continued to push forward the pilot test of digital RMB in accordance with the requirements of the 14th Five-Year Plan, together with the participating research institutions and with the strong support of the Party committees and governments of the pilot areas.

In addition, each pilot area has carried out nearly 30 digital RMB consumption red envelope activities since this year. As of May 31 this year, the cumulative number of digital RMB transactions in the pilot areas of 15 provinces and cities was about 264 million, amounting to about 83 billion yuan.
