CTOnews.com, October 21, according to MacRumors, according to user feedback on Reddit and Twitter, the iOS 15.7.1 RC release on October 19 seems to have affected Face ID's work on some iPhone, including at least iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro models, but other models are likely to be affected as well.

When affected users try to reset Face ID on iPhone, they will receive an error message that "Face ID is not available", causing the facial recognition feature to become unavailable. It is not clear what caused the problem or whether Apple was aware of it.

CTOnews.com has learned that the RC version is usually the same as the official version of the iOS update. But Apple is likely to release a new candidate version before the release of iOS 15.7.1 and fix the problem.

Some users are not interested in updating to iOS 16, so it is also important for Apple to address this issue in iOS 15.7.1. There are other devices that are compatible with iOS 15 but not iOS 16, including iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, first-generation iPhone SE, seventh-generation iPod touch, iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus.
