Beijing, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) Google's Messages app for Android users is finally closer to Apple's iMessages: it can now not only display "Tapback" emoticons sent by iPhone users, but also allow Android users to respond quickly with their own emoticons.

Earlier, it was reported that Google has enabled SMS communication between Android users (like iMessage on Android phones) through its RCS enhanced SMS service, and completed emoji interoperability in March. Google has also added a message management function to help SMS users keep abreast of information in large amounts of messages.

The updated application can set reminders directly from the message, suggest scheduling video calls or add a schedule, and can be highlighted with a star icon when the message contains key information such as phone number, street address, and door code.

Although Google only announced the news on Thursday morning, some Android users have already seen the feature on their phones. Previously, Google pushed for the adoption of the RCS protocol to solve the communication problem caused by Apple's iMessage and Android.
