CTOnews.com October 21, Microsoft today released an update to the Windows 11 Android subsystem to Windows Insider Dev and Beta channels. The new version 2209.40000.26.0 brings a host of changes, improving security, camera, general reliability and performance.

Here are the details of the update:

According to the update roadmap quietly released by Microsoft on Github, WSA now performs better on Windows 11 and will upgrade to Android 13 in the near future. WSA will support file transfer with the Windows system, as well as screenshots, picture-in-picture, default local network access and other important functions, it is not clear when it will be launched.

CTOnews.com learned that the Windows 11 Android subsystem (Windows Subsystem for Android) includes the Linux kernel and the Android operating system based on the Android open source project (AOSP) version. This subsystem runs in the Hyper-V virtual machine, just like the Linux subsystem, it can map the runtime and API of App in the AOSP environment to the Windows graphics layer, memory buffers, input modes, physical and virtual devices, and sensors, and can run on Intel, AMD, Qualcomm CPU.

Users can find updates to download the new version of WSA in the Microsoft Windows 11 App Store, or they can download the full installation package manually.
