CTOnews.com, Oct. 20 (Xinhua)-- Japan's Sansei Technology Company has built the world's first four-legged robot that can carry people, and people ride like elephants.

The robot, known as SR-02, is about 3.6m long, 2m wide, 2.1m high, weighs about 2t and can hold four people. The robot is battery-powered and walks on its four legs like an elephant at a speed of 3.8 to 9 meters per minute.

CTOnews.com learned that the robot can be controlled by radio or wired remote control, and the demo video shows that it can stand up, bend its legs, lift its feet, walk leisurely and turn in circles while stamping its feet while carrying four adults.

The company unveiled a prototype of the robot in February, and since then it has been working hard to improve its stability and walking speed, and has "completed" the design in September. The robot will be used in exhibitions and amusement parks, and the company hopes it can also be used in other fields.
