CTOnews.com, October 19, PC testing tool 3DMark officially announced that DLSS functional testing has supported Nvidia DLSS 3 and DLSS frame generation in the latest 3DMark 2.25.8042.

Through the 3DMark DLSS functional test, users can compare the performance and image quality with and without DLSS processing. If you are using the latest GeForce RTX 40 series graphics card, you can also compare the performance with and without DLSS 3.

Users now have the option to run NVIDIA DLSS functional tests using DLSS 3, DLSS 2, or DLSS 1. DLSS 3 includes DLSS frame generation, and users can choose between three image quality modes (quality, performance, and ultra-high performance), which are designed for different resolutions, from Full HD to 8K.

DLSS frame generation uses AI to increase the frame rate by generating additional high-quality frames, while optimizing responsiveness through NVIDIA Reflex. DLSS frame generation requires the use of the new Optical flow Accelerator in the GeForce RTX 40 Series GPU as well as Nvidia Tensor Core.

CTOnews.com learned that 3DMark's DLSS functional test is based on the 3DMark Port Royal RayTracing benchmark. The test is run twice, the first time testing Port Royal performance with DLSS disabled, the second time testing Port Royal at a lower resolution, and then using DLSS processing to create frames at the output resolution. The result screen reports the frame rate of each run.

The DLSS 3 update is a free update for users who purchased 3DMark after January 8, 2019, and users need a Nvidia RTX 40 series video card and driver that supports DLSS 3 to run the DLSS functional test.

3DMark 2.25.8042 also fixes a number of issues, including:

Fixed an issue that could cause tests using GPU selectors to fail with a "Mandatory JSON value int64 member'dxgi_adapter_luid'has invalid type" error.

Speed Way now correctly prevents Windows from closing the screen on systems that "close the screen after idle" for a very short time.

Fixed an issue in Night Raid that could cause systems with multiple different GPU to crash.
